Where Do the Normal People Stand?

Where do we stand in all of this?
With wars rising, conflicts at an all-time high.
Where do we—the normal people—stand, watching the world burn?

Our elected leaders make decisions on our behalf, for our sake, they say.
We watch as the outcomes unfold.
I don’t know about anyone else, but I worry about where all this tension is heading. What it all leads to.

And to make it even more dramatic, the year has barely started.
We begin with hopes, with resolutions, with quiet plans for ourselves.
Meanwhile—men in suits. Short tempers. A license to kill.
Big, dangerous toys. Innocent lives.

What does this all lead to?
Personally, I can only hope for the best.
May God protect us all.
